AUTO-RESPONDERS
I put this here
first because you may want to have this set up before you start advertising.
There's mainly 2 kinds of places to place free ads: free classified
sites and FFA sites. They require an email address from you to place an ad, so
it's best to get a "junk" email account. For every ad you place, you could get
hundreds of useless emails. Some ads require an email address that must be
confirmed. I usually just skip those because it takes too long. However there
are many multi-submit sites that don't care what kind of email you give. In that
case, you would use an autoresponder email. Go to
http://www.freeautobot.com and sign up for an email with them.
Yourname@freeautobot.com (sample). When you place an ad at a multi-submit
site, use the freeautobot email as your own. But you must first set up your
freeautobot system. Very Important!! Log in and check your "from" email address
and make sure it's not your home email. Then go to the message control panel and
"add a new message". There you would write up a sales letter and put in an
attention getting subject. This is how it works. You go and advertise, giving
your freeautobot email address. People start sending you their sales letters to
your freeautobot email. Instead of the mail collecting in an inbox, freeautobot
automatically replies to all these people with your sales letter email. You can
add more letters, different ones or use the same one over and over. You can
specify how many days after the first letter is mailed that the second one
should go out. You can put an unlimited amount of follow-up sales letters. And
it's always free, that's why I like this one. I have one freeautobot account
that has over 20,000 names now. I can send these people mail whenever I want.
They are given the option to unsubscribe at any time and since they are sending
the first email, it's not considered spamming. If you are very concerned about
that, you could start the letter out with "thanks for your offer, I think I have
something you might be interested in too..." or something like that.
STANDING OUT
Before placing ads on a classified or
FFA site, browse some of the listings. See what stands out. Is it capital
letters? A bunch of stars *****? Are they alphabetized? Would you be better of
starting your title with the letter A then? However you do it, try to be
eye-catching. Your title just has to get them to the website, for the most part.
Sometimes less information is more. Such as "Turn Your CD Burner INTO a Cash
Register! CLICK HERE!!". I didn't give a lot of information, so they are tempted
to click your link and take a look for themselves. According to Shawn Casey, the
famed internet millionaire, the bolder the headline, the better. He suggests
titles like "This secret can make you sexier!" or "Aliens take over the
internet". He says it doesn't matter what you say as long as it gets them there.
I personally haven't tried his methods, but it sure works well for him.

AD SITES
An easy way to find free classified ad sites is to do an internet search for
them. Go to http://www.google.com or
whatever search engine you like and type in "free classifieds", "free
advertising", "free ffa sites", etc. You'll have to sort through a bunch of
listings, but you will find some gems in there.
This place has the TONS of free
classified links and many of the links have even MORE sites to visit:
http://www.mysiteinc.com/admistress. This site was recommended to me by
the World's Greatest Ad Writer, Marion B. Stearns. I HIGHLY recommend
her services. She can take your regular old classified ad title and/or text and
turn it into gold. Her site is
FlashyAds.com. Her prices are very reasonable too. Plus, she has
an advertising section with very low rates where you can send your ad to
hundreds of thousands of people. So if you want to spend a little money to
get some great results, go visit Marion!
These 4 free sites says they need to confirm your email for you to place an ad, but they don't. Just use your regular junk email account (not the autoresponder). Here's the deal with them. They don't list the ads right away, it could take a month or two, BUT they leave the ads up for a real long time, so I like them. They list their ads alphabetically, so word yours accordingly.
